B1 opens study and work.

Programma I is the level mbo 3 and mbo 4 ask for, and the one many employers want to see. Reaching B1 is what opens the door to a study programme or a job in Dutch.

For mbo 3 and mbo 4

Most vocational programmes at this level set Programma I (B1) as the language requirement for admission.

For work in Dutch

A B1 certificate is the proof many employers ask for that you can handle the language on the job.

Counts for inburgering too

Programma I is the same exam as the B1-route of inburgering, so passing it counts for both at once.

The four parts of Programma I, each trained to B1.

The Staatsexamen NT2 has four language parts, each with its own format and time. The course trains all four at B1 against tasks shaped like the real ones.

110 minutes

Reading

Lezen

Longer texts with multiple-choice questions. The text is on paper, the answers go on screen. A dictionary is allowed. You practise reading for the main idea and the argument at B1 length, with limited time.

90 minutes

Listening

Luisteren

Spoken texts and short film, played once, with multiple-choice questions. You practise catching the answer on the first listen, the way Programma I demands.

100 minutes

Writing

Schrijven

Short writing tasks and sentence tasks, typed on a computer and marked by two trained assessors. You practise the exact tasks and get feedback on what to improve.

About 25 minutes

Speaking

Spreken

Short and medium spoken tasks, recorded and marked by two assessors against the official criteria. You rehearse them out loud and hear where your answer is not yet at B1.

Built from the real Programma I exams.

The CvTE publishes its exams and its marking models. So we know how the questions look and how many points each part of your answer earns.

  1. Theory

What each part asks, and how it is counted.

  2. Practice

The course finds your weak spots.

As you answer, the course learns which B1 skills and rules keep costing you points.

  • You see which skills and rules are holding your score down.
  • You get more questions aimed at those weak points.
  • You practise them until you reach the level.

Schrijven

Schrijf een korte motivatie voor een opleiding.

Write a short motivation for a study programme.

Luisteren

Welke afspraak maken de collega’s?

What do the colleagues agree on?

Spreken

Leg uit waarom je voor deze opleiding kiest.

Explain why you choose this study programme.

Grammatica

Verbind: 'Hij kwam te laat ___ de trein vertraging had.'

Join: 'He was late ___ the train was delayed.'

Speaking too, the part you cannot practise alone.

You can read and listen on your own, but a spoken answer is hard to judge by yourself. Here you answer out loud and the course scores it against the B1 criteria the real exam uses.

  • You speak a real exam task out loud.
  • Your answer is scored on the criteria the assessors use.
  • You hear where your answer is not yet at B1.

Feedback

A clear reason with a result ("daardoor"), good for B1. Add one longer sentence with "terwijl" or "hoewel" to show more range, and it scores higher.

The Staatsexamen NT2 at B1, and what makes it hard.

A language school teaches Dutch, not the B1 exam.

Months of general lessons, much of which the Staatsexamen NT2 never tests, while your study deadline gets closer.

We train only what Programma I asks.

You practise the real NT2 tasks at B1. Longer reading, listening that plays once, typing on a computer and speaking out loud.

You cannot tell if you are at B1 yet.

On your own there is no way to know if you are close to the score each part needs before the admission deadline.

On each part you see if you are ready.

Every answer updates a readiness read for each part, so you know where you stand before you book and pay.

Booking and retakes add up.

Each part is 50 euro, and every part you retake is another 50, on top of a language school that runs into the hundreds.

One small monthly price.

You decide how long you need the course. A small amount per month, and you stop when you have passed.

Speaking is the part you cannot practise alone.

You can read and listen on your own, but a spoken answer is hard to judge by yourself.

Speaking is scored like the real exam.

You answer out loud and get a score on the criteria DUO uses, plus specific tips on what to fix.

Why I made this NT2 course.

I am Dutch, so I never had to prove my Dutch in an exam. My Iranian family did. I helped them prepare, and saw where it goes wrong.

Most courses teach general Dutch: conversation, grammar, a bit of everything. The Staatsexamen NT2 asks for something narrower: a fixed set of well-defined tasks. That makes it very trainable, if you train the right things.

So I made this course. It focuses on exactly the tasks Programma I tests, and nothing it does not.

Staatsexamen NT2 B1, the honest answers.

Anyone who needs Dutch at B1 to study or work at mbo 3 or mbo 4 level. It is also the exam you take on the B1-route of inburgering, so it serves both goals.

Yes. The B1-route of inburgering is examined through the Staatsexamen NT2 Programma I, so it is literally the same exam. Taking it to inburgeren rather than to study or work? Then our inburgering B1 course fits your situation better.

A skill score of at least 500 on each of the four parts. That is a scaled score, not a percentage of questions right, so there is no public "X out of Y" cut-off. The course shows your current level per part as you practise.

Each of the four parts costs 50 euro, so the full Programma I comes to 200 euro. You book it through DUO. You can take the parts on different dates and only retake the ones you have not passed.

Train for B1,
part by part.

Programma I is demanding, but its parts are known and fixed. You practise the real reading, listening, writing and speaking tasks at B1 and track your score per part. You book when you are ready.
