B1 is a clear step up from A2. The texts are longer, the spoken fragments faster, and you handle more situations on your own. If you want a higher level on your diploma, or you need B1 for your route, practising at B1 keeps your work close to what the exam actually asks.
At B1 the exam runs through the Staatsexamen NT2, which sets its own format and timing. The reading texts are longer and the listening audio is played once, so getting used to that pace is part of the work. The four language parts are still Reading (Lezen), Listening (Luisteren), Writing (Schrijven) and Speaking (Spreken).

B1 is a step up. The reading texts are longer, the listening audio is played once, and you handle more on your own. It is the standard level under the current Wet inburgering 2021, where A2 is the fall-back route. At B1 the language parts run through the Staatsexamen NT2, which sets its own format and timing.
Four language parts, Reading (Lezen), Listening (Luisteren), Writing (Schrijven) and Speaking (Spreken), plus KNM (Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij). The language parts run through the Staatsexamen NT2. KNM is a separate knowledge part with its own practice exam.
At B1 the Staatsexamen NT2 sets the times: reading is 110 minutes, listening is 90 minutes, writing is 100 minutes, and speaking is about 25 minutes. The practice exams use the same shape, so the pace is familiar.
A skill score (vaardigheidsscore) of at least 500 on each language part. That is a scaled score, not a percentage of questions right, so there is no public "X out of Y" cut-off. This is different from the A2 route, where the language parts are marked as a raw score. You need to pass all the parts to complete the exam, and the practice exams show you where you stand per part.
Each of the four language parts costs 50 euro, so the full Staatsexamen NT2 comes to 200 euro. You book it through DUO. Practising here first means the format is no surprise on the day.
