How long you wait for your result depends on the exam. For KNM, Reading A2 and Listening A2 it is up to 8 weeks. For Speaking A2 and Writing A2 it can take up to 16 weeks at the moment. For the Staatsexamen NT2 it is about 5 weeks.

Waiting time per exam
According to Inburgeren.nl, DUO sends the result of the knowledge exams and the A2 language exams within 8 weeks. For two A2 exams the waiting time is longer right now.

Why the result of Speaking and Writing A2 takes longer
On 31 July 2026, DUO announced that it had a lot of exams to mark. Because of that, the result of Speaking A2 and Writing A2 now takes up to 16 weeks instead of 8.
DUO also says that it does not mark all exams at the same time. So if someone took the exam on the same day as you and got their result first, that says nothing about your result.
What people report on Reddit
On Reddit, people who took the exam in 2026 say their Writing A2 result took between 5 and 9 weeks. For Speaking A2 they mention 3 to 4 months.
These are individual experiences. Waiting times can also change quickly. For your planning, use the official waiting time from DUO. Also check the end date of your inburgering term.
Is your deadline close and are you still waiting for the result of Speaking A2 or Writing A2? Then DUO gives you 6 extra months. You do not need to ask for them.
The Staatsexamen NT2
For B1 and B2 you take the Staatsexamen NT2, the state exam for Dutch as a second language. According to DUO, you see the result in Mijn DUO after about 5 weeks. You also get an email and a letter. The exam schedule on staatsexamensnt2.nl shows the day your result comes out.
While you wait
Two questions come up often while people wait:
- "I think I failed." Many people feel this after Speaking. The feeling says little about your score. If you think you failed Speaking, read what DUO actually looks at.
- "Should I book again now?" For the Staatsexamen NT2 that is not possible before your result. For A2 it is less clear. We explain this in our article on rebooking before your result.
